August 16, 2007 - Soonercare DMEPOS Suppliers must become accredited starting January 1, 2008. Soonercare Providers must be accredited by a Medicare deemed DMEPOS Accreditation Organization to be eligible to submit claims to Soonercare. See the Oklahoma Health Care Authority regulation below.

All eligible medical suppliers must have a current contract
with the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. The supplier must
comply with all applicable State and Federal laws. Effective
January 1, 2008, all suppliers of durable medical equipment,
prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) must be accredited
by a Medicare deemed accreditation organization for quality
standards for DMEPOS suppliers in order to bill the SoonerCare
program. OHCA may make exceptions to this standard if it is
determined that a supplier may provide acceptable service to an
under served location.

July 27, 2007 - All deadlines have been extended for competitive bidding. All registrations are due by August 27, 2007 and bids are due by September 25, 2007 at 9PM EST. More importantly the date to be accredited has been pushed back to October 31, 2007. [MORE]

July 20, 2007 - CMS has extended the bid deadline one more time from July 20th to July 27th at 9PM EST.

June 29, 2007 - CMS has extended the bid deadline from July 13th to July 20th at 9PM EST. Along with that, bid registrations have been extended to July 7th.

May 8, 2007 - CMS has extended the target date for opening the bidding window to early May. This target date will allow additional time for suppliers to review these important educational materials and prepare for bidding. In addition, CMS is continuing to test its on-line bidding system to ensure that suppliers have access to a user-friendly system to facilitate easy submission of bids. [MORE]

Apr. 17, 2007 - The accreditation deadline for the first round of competitive bidding is August 31, 2007. Suppliers must be accredited or be pending accreditation to submit a bid.  CMS cannot accept a bid from any supplier that is not accredited or that has not applied for accreditation. Suppliers will need to be accredited to be awarded a contract.  Suppliers must be accredited before this date to be awarded a contract. Suppliers should apply for accreditation immediately to allow adequate time to process their applications. [MORE]

Apr. 9, 2007 - CMS strongly recommends registering early. Pharmacies and other suppliers wishing to compete in competitive bidding should register for competitive bidding as early as possible. [MORE]

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is pleased to announce the newly established Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor (CBIC) website. Mar. 19, 2007 - The Final Rule for National Competitive Bidding should be published in the Federal Register soon. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has presented to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and once OMB is finished their review, it will be published. [MORE]
