DMEPOS Accreditation

Many National Pharmacists’ Associations and Buying Groups encourage independent pharmacy owners to be DMEPOS accredited to ensure they can maintain their share of the ever-increasing DME market. This market is expected to reach $31 billion by 2013. Many healthcare insurers –HMOs, third party plans, hospice programs, long term care facilities, as well as Medicare and Medicaid programs –require DME suppliers to be accredited. More require it every day. Even if you qualify for exemption from CMS, that doesn’t exempt you from other payers’ requirements. Plus, in order to bill Medicare, you still need to meet the CMS Supplier Standards. DMEPOS accreditation through NASI, a PRS Affiliate, keeps you compliant, allowing you to breeze through a Medicare audit and increase the likelihood you’ll receive reimbursement for the claims you submit. NASI has guided over 5,000 pharmacies through the accreditation process nearly half of all accredited independents.

There are currently two options available through NASI for those seeking first time DMEPOS accreditation or re-accreditation:

Option 1 - NASI DMEPOS Accreditation Program

Option 2 - NASI Lite

(For re-accrediting clients transferring from another AO or existing NASI customers)

Some pharmacies may be eligible for NASI Lite—a customizable DME accreditation program designed for those who provide minimal DME.

Blood Glucose Monitors & Supplies (non-mail order)
Nebulizers

Surgical Dressings
Urological Supplies

Heat & Cold Applications
