This program provides written processes, associated documentation and related employee training for these requirements. Following the program will allow you to comply with the regulation.
A final rule issued by the federal government regarding nondiscrimination affects Pharmacies. This regulation from HHS (Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) outlines requirements to ensure equality and access with healthcare services. The final rule was effective July 18, 2016 and pharmacies will need to take steps to comply with it.
Section 1557 makes it illegal to discriminate against anyone seeking healthcare on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. While nondiscrimination practices are already commonplace in pharmacy, this regulation requires specific documents to be offered/posted, services to be provided and accessibility to be ensured to patients (including, but not limited to individuals with Limited English Proficiency and persons with disabilities).
COMPLIANCETrack allows you to have multiple pharmacy locations* in one easy-to-manage account, while still allowing the Pharmacist-in-Charge (or other individuals with Compliance Responsibilities) to have access to information relevant to just their location. *Additional site purchases required.
